Digest Support Tea

Digest Tea was originally formulated by Barbara O'Neill as a blend of herbs to support optimal stomach function. By increasing the stomach's production of hydrochloric acid. This increase enhances the digestive process. Low hydrochloric acid isassociated with a long list of digestive complaints and disorders.

Ingredient insight:

Gentian - (Gentiana lutea) Traditionally used as abitter herb to aid digestion, by stimulating therelease of hydrochloric acid. Dandelion - (Taraxacumofficinale) With its naturally occurringpolysaccharides, known to reduce stress on the liver while supporting its function of excreting bile.

Liquorice root - (Glycyrrhiza glabra) Contains beneficial compound glycyrrhizin, which has antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti- inflammatoryproperties.

Ginger - (Zingiber officinale) Contains key phytonutrients known as gingerols, research has shown that these can have an antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effect. Soothes irritated gastrointestinal mucosa, increases salivary secretion, and stimulates bile production.

Golden seal - (Hydrastis canadensis) Known for itsantibiotic properties, effective in slowing H. Pylorigrowth (a bacteria identified as causing pain, inflammation, and an increased risk of stomach ulcers) and containing berberine, a naturally occurring alkaloid used for its anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-parasitic actions.

Directions for use:

Take 1 tsp of herbs, to 1 cup of water. Bring to a slow boil and turn down heat. Gently simmer for 10 min with lid on pot. (50g/3 slices of fresh ginger root can also be added for an extra zing)

Let tea cool to room temp, strain, and keeprefrigerated in a glass bottle. Tea will keep for up to 5days.

Drink 60ml, 10-15 minutes before eating a meal. Bestconsumed warm for more effective absorption. Eitherwarm the dose of tea or add a dash of boiling water to bring up temperature.
